Sharp Thoughts, L.L.C.

Sharp Thoughts, L.L.C. is the business name for computer and intellectual services offered by Moishe Weiss. Computer services include anything from cleaning viruses and malware from computers, to assessing whether it would be more effective for a customer to upgrade or replace their computer(s), to setting up and maintaining a network of dozens of computers. However, the niche I would like to concentrate on is small professional offices with perhaps a dozen computers.

At its most basic level, computer services tends to mean, "Make it work!" However, I like to concentrate on the bigger picture: companies invest a lot of money in technology and they need to make that technology pay for itself better. There are many ways of using existing computer infrastructure to make a business more efficient.

Some of these methods are more obvious than others. For example, it is no longer necessary to buy paper with company letterheads - this can be done automatically with whatever word processing software the secretary is currently using.

Less obviously, it is possible to set up a web site and accomplish advertising and communication with clients and vendors by having key individuals post critical information at "your company".com. These individuals need not know anything about computers, except for their login information. The web site can be set up so as to take care of everything by itself. Depending on an organization's needs, it can have blogs, wikis (online encyclopedias) or anything else that promotes the business. Furthermore, none of this is particularly difficult or expensive to do - provided you have the right contact person.

The focus of Sharp Thoughts, L.L.C., then, is to go beyond basic servicing of individual computers to the provision of a broader, more intellectual service: that of figuring out how to use existing and not-to-expensive computer resources to accomplish more bang for the business buck.

Other services I offer include computer training and education assistance in math, science and technology to both adults and children. The common theme is that Sharp Thoughts, L.L.C. is in the business of selling brains.

The purpose of the web site, aside from the obvious purpose of promoting the business, is to educate and communicate with (potential) clients. There will be sections with plenty of computer advice, including do-it-yourself information. I can afford to do this for the following reasons:

Other sections of the web site will be dedicated to more obvious tasks, such as providing contact information (referred to in the industry as static content), keeping the public apprised of updates to the website and the status of Sharp Thoughts, L.L.C. (known as blogging) and providing general information and terminology about computers and technology (in what is called a wiki).
